My Background
In 2009 I visited a garden that was open to the public in Poole. They had many different varieties of gardens and the last one was a Japanese garden. As soon as I saw the Japanese garden, I thought I have got to create this in my garden. As soon as I got home I made a start on changes.
In 2017 I made the decision to rebuild the whole garden again and I still got more to do.
I run a group on Facebook called
“Koi, Ponds, Japanese Style Gardens (Worldwide)”
I started this group in 2018 so I can post pictures and information of my garden and also others can do the same. It is a great group where we can help each other to create our own Japanese style garden.
May 2021, I was contacted by Caters Media Group who saw pictures of my garden on my Facebook group. They arranged an interview and photo shoot with myself and my wife.
5th & 6th June 2021, I opened my garden for charity through NGS for the first time. This was planned for two years but was put on hold for a year because of covid.
June 15th I was contacted by Caters Media to tell me that my garden is in the National newspapers. I then had a radio interview, an interview and photo shoot with the BBC, then it went on their social media and BBC Points West News.
I was then contacted by a Japanese journalist, who asked if they could do an article on me and my garden for Japan News. It ranked number in Japan over night.
2022
I have made a lot of changes to my Japanese garden and have studied more.
May 12th I was featured live on ITV local news
May 16th my garden was used for a kimono photo shoot
On July 7th BBC2 Gardeners World visited and after ten hours of filming
I was featured in episode 21 on August 12th.
I have also had Interviews with News 24/7, SWNS national newspapers, Bristol Post and many more.
